kilometres from the rural town Korpilahti and 40 kilometres from Jyväskylä.
Accomodation: We offer accommodation in two houses at the farm and in two
self-catering cottages further away. The total amount of beds is 60 in the
summer and 40 in the winter.
Food: The farm hostess cooks delicious full-board meals and party
caterings. In the old farm-house there is a fully equipped kitchen at the guests
disposal.
Activities at the barnyard
The barnyard bustles with varieties of activity. You can observe the children in
their play while relaxing in the garden swing, or volleyball on our own court.
Lax can be caught in the pond, and later prepared for dinner. At the summertime
there are many small farm animals and pets around. The duck pond is busy with
quaks and chucks. The old storehouse on the yard is converted to summer kitchen
with a wood stove, fireplace and refrigerator. Sausages can be grilled on an
open fire and pancakes baked. There even exists a small dance-floor for parties.
The Surkeejärvi lake is situated 400 metres from the farm. You can swim at a
good, sandy beach, or borrow the boat for a rowing or angling trip. The lax pond
doubles as a skating ring at wintertime, and a perfect sliding slope can be
found in the near vicinity.
Routes for hickers
The Central Finland county trail goes trough the farm providing good hiking and
cross-country skiing possibilities. Own, shorter skiing routes are kept in good
condition the whole winter. There are three sheds with fireplaces within a short
walking distance from the farm. A snowmobile route also passes nearby. In the
summertime you can borrow a bicycle and get to know the idyllic life of a
Finnish village.
Additional entertainment
One of the storehouses is nowadays a small peasant museum, where you can find
for example a pair of wood skies or a butter churn. If requested, the massager
living in the neigbourhood can pay a visit. The farm uses wood chips for warming
the houses, and you can familiarise yourself with this natural option.
Village life
The annual activities at the holiday home, the Moksi school house and village
hall are plentiful, and the guests are welcomed to take part in these occasions.
Sliding Sunday in February, Mother's Day Lunch in May, summer dances, summer
festivals, The Thousand Lakes Rally, Father's Day Lunch in November and
Christmas Market are the most important ones.

Accommodation with the right atmosphere
The heart of the farm is the main building. The kitchen is hostess' realm,
and she prepares the most delicious meals for bed&breakfast visitors and
full-boarders alike. The big dining room accommodates 60 people at once. The
homy livingroom with a fireplace and TV, sauna, washroom, terrace and playroom
for kids are situated downstears. The total of six bedrooms both up- and
downstairs have beds for fourteen guests.
The old main building is in the immediate vicinity. Old log walls and the large
wood hearth give the greatroom its unique character. Four bedrooms up- and
downstairs accommodate twelve guests. There is naturally WC and shower in the
house. The old greatroom suits brilliantly for smaller weddings and other family
occasions.
Cowshed is changed. It is changed a lot! Upstairs there is now a beautiful hall
for any kind of celebrations. Decorations of the hall will be changed following
the atmosphere. There is room for 100 guests in the hall. The hall suits also
for larger meetings. Smaller meetings untill 30 participants can be held in
meeting room donwnstairs. We have modern audio-visual aids for your meetings.
Cottage in the forest - Riihipiilo ("drying barn hideout")
Riihipiilo is located a bit further away from the main farmyard. The former
drying barn is converted into a log cabin, and it serves as a perfect hideout
for those looking for privacy. The spacious cottage accommodates two families
easily. There is a living room with a fireplace, kitchen with modern equipment,
sauna with washroom and comfortable beds for eight. Some people have seen the
very shy barn elf which protects the building too...
A miserable story, but true
"During the Swedish-Russian war in early 1700
century a priest was murdered by drowning him into a lake nearby here.
Thereafter the lake was called Surkeejärvi (= miserable lake) and the nearest
farm got the name Surkee (=miserable) too."
When the first guests arrived at 1981, the farm was called Holiday home Surkee.
Now it is changed a little: Holiday home Surkeenjärvi.
Putting the name aside, you can have the most enjoyable holiday there...
Welcome!
